Paranormal Investigations...

   begin with you, our client, perceiving a paranormal occurrence in your surroundings.  After you contact us, we will set up a day and time to sit down with you and interview you.  The interview form is rather extensive, but we ask so many questions to help to jog your memory and to try to give us as full of a picture as possible of what is going on.  Some of the questions might seem a little personal, and you're certainly able to decline to answer any questions, but each of them is designed to help us narrow down what is possibly occurring.  We videotape the interview so that we can make a transcript of it and have it for review later.  

   After conducting the interview, our officers will review the information and make a determination, with the client, on whether an investigation is warranted and on the desired outcome of the case.  Once you and we have decided to proceed with an investigation, we will set up a day and time with you.  Normally investigations begin on Saturday evening at dusk.  A few things to note:

• Saturdays usually work best because then we can get a team assembled without cutting into anyone's work week. Since the SEPRS is composed of volunteers, some of us have "day jobs". However, with have several members that are full-time staff, so we will work around your schedule.
• We typically investigate after dark and in low- or zero-lighting conditions.  A lot of what we're looking for as far as visual evidence doesn't show up in the daylight.
• Investigations usually aren't a one-shot deal.  We theorize that the cause of a lot of paranormal activity has some level of sentience and knows why we're there, and will thus be on its best behavior.  Often we will pack up and leave an investigation that was totally uneventful and as soon as we pull out of the driveway, the paranormal activity starts back up immediately with its usual hijinks.
• We ask that when we come for an investigation, that you don't invite guests.  Family or friends that have witnessed the activity are fine, but simply curious onlookers tend to impede things.
• If an investigation warrants, it might become necessary to have an investigator present on a regular basis for a short period. This is unfortunately rather intrusive, but we ask that you, as much as possible, carry on with your day-to-day activities.

   During the investigation, we use a wide variety of technical and not-so-technical devices.  While it would be too space consuming here to give a complete explanation of all the tools we use, and what we're hoping to find with them, we encourage you to read the briefs on the equipment page, and to ask questions about any of our equipment during the investigation.

   After the investigation is over and we have collected sufficient evidence, we will sit down with you and show you what we've found, and if we've discovered paranormal activity, discuss with you some of the steps you can take to attempt to alleviate or eliminate it, or go over some tips on how to live normally with paranormal activity in the background.  Whatever you would like to do.  Remember, we're here to help you any way we can.
